very fine sounding amplifier. Which driver are you using in your spiral horn please? Could you comment on the differences between spiral horns with a natural smooth curved turns and spiral horns composed of a series of increasing larger cross sectional area and using square turns (with the intent to suppress high frequencies from exciting the moth of the horn)? This technique dramatically reduces the effect of a noticeable secondary source of mid and high frequency along with the associate impact upon stereo stage and image quality. While not as visually pleasing as a natural spiral I wonder what your thought are on this topic. Thank you for your time and thank you for posting.

      Thank you for visiting.
About 30 years ago I came up with the idea of making my own ammonite-shaped speaker. I had previously made an angular spiral, but it seemed to have a peak in the low range, and only certain frequencies were boosted. In comparison, I think the ammonite is very smooth.
The speaker I used is a mark audio OM-MF5 full-range 8cm. This was sold as an attachment to a magazine. I think the cone is aluminum. 4Ω 8W.

@@YY-de5ij thank you so much for your response I appreciate your time and value your experience. I have not yet built a spiral horn but I have made a number of folded back loaded horns of my own design (though nothing original so far as the technology goes) and had reasonable success. I believe that designs such as the angular spiral you describe are possible and can wok as intended but I also believe that the folds are complex to get right and this is why we see so many spiral horns made up of sections of expanding area but with parallel sides because it is easier to fold those so there are few reflections back to the mouth. I will include a link to a video of such a design incorporating dual horns of different lengths in one cabinet which sounds very good, I hope that you enjoy it. The Cornu design is a good option so far as load on the driver and it seems to maximize the potential for output of small drivers such as 2 inch or 3 inch. I do believe that it is of significant benefit for the horn design to help filter as much upper frequencies as is possible amplifying and passing only the bass. The mid bass and higher frequencies are best listened to as only emanating from the front side of the driver. A two way system with an active digital crossover used with say a Dual Concentric dive such as a small 100mm /
Tannoy driver would be one possible solution to this problem allowing for the use of a spiral Cornu design or a single horn design such as yours. I appreciate being able to chat with you regarding this. Many thanks to you.
